Conviction of Sin

John 16:8
”And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment”

Conviction of Sin – The Holy Spirit communicates with us consistently through conviction. Because of God’s great love for us, he doesn’t leave us when we err but he points out the errors of our ways every time we sin, which drives us to repentance and asking God for forgiveness.

However, when we ignore his voice or refuse to obey, we leave ourselves open to the traps of the enemy and we magnify our desires over God’s will for us. Being sensitive to the Holy Spirit and his conviction is an important aspect of practising the presence of God in our daily lives. Being  responsive to the voice of the Holy Spirit positions us to move with him and grow into the calling he has for us.

The reality is that we cannot monitor our children 24/7, neither is it our responsibility to play the Holy Spirit in their lives. However, what we can do is to pray that they will be truly sensitive to the voice of the Holy Spirit and heed any conviction of sin. This day we entrust them to God and ask His Spirit to convict them when they go astray and we pray that the Lord will guard their hearts and keep them from all evil.
